The exhibition of the internationally renowned painter and graphic artist, who once also worked in Szentendre, is titled On the Road (Vándorúton) and is expected to be open to visitors from May 5 until mid-July. According to future plans, art enthusiasts will be able to discover works by a new artist every two to three months. The Cháj Gallery is Szentendre’s newest jewel. Until now primarily serving as a synagogue and a venue for community events, the center is introducing a new profile and preparing a grand opening to foster an even deeper understanding of Jewish culture among both locals and tourists.
Mendy Myers: “We opened the center in 2019 and gave it the name Cháj (which means ‘life’). We primarily envisioned a lifestyle center that brings together various branches mainly related to Judaism. The newest additions to our existing synagogue and cultural programming are a kosher café and a Jewish art gallery. Our kosher cooking class has been a great success, and right now we are preparing for the Passover Seder nights. The gallery and its exhibitions fit seamlessly into this environment.”
