Conjuring up the atmosphere of 18th century purger (i.e. middle- and upper-middle class) balls, Szentendre has organised a Town Ball since 2015 in order to revive the tradition.
One of the strategic aims of the ball is to strengthen the town community and provide an occasion for an inclusive, affordable yet but high-quality and lasting experience mobilising lots of people. The main goal is to spend time together and have fun in the ball. From the second year on, the purger ball was combined with the old cheerful and casual fancy-dress balls of the Szentendre Art Colony to give rise to the Town Ball, where people can get to know each other and make contacts. Permanent features of the ball include the fancy-dress competition (individual, couple and group categories), live music, raffles, portrait photos and a buffet-style dinner.
Subject to admission fee.
