Celebrated in late July since 2004, the festival focussing on local traditions is one of the most popular free-of-charge family events. The Danube (called Ister in ancient times) is the most valuable asset of Szentendre offering both locals and tourists a variety of programmes on and around the river. During the day, rowing and sports competitions take place on the river and games on the riverside. On Saturday evening, visitors can watch the unique and spectacular event of ‘candle floating’ accompanied by music. On the Danube promenade, there are several theatre performances, folk-dance programmes and concerts during the day and in the evening.
Admission free.
