Many famous people visited it, among who the kindest and biggest gourmet was Ferenc Karinthy the writer. He was a regular quest, and every time he arrived, ordered lamb. Later on the wrote a commendation, dedicated to the guests: “This restaurant is known in the country and beyond the frontier. The secret of their success is first of all the hospitability of its owners, its delicous kitchen and the atmosphere of the place.” The continuity of this success is ensured since father and son take care of their guests together.

Rab Ráby is a popular Restaurant of Szentendre. Its guests are artists, politicians, scientists and diplomats. The 18th century smithery was rebuilt in 1982 by Lajos Németh and his family, but they preserved the original style of the building. It was named after the immortal hero of Mór Jókai. Handcuffs and other tools of punishment evoke his and the former smithery’s memory, and they do not intend to frighten the visitor, who should not be afraid: nobody has left the neighbourhood of the 170 years old wooden wine – press unsatisfied. Moreover, your memory will preserve the taste of the traditional Hungarian spices, the flavour of thyme and rosemary.
